Malta

The Maltese Islands are one of the oldest civilisations in the Mediterranean dating back to circa 5000 years B.C and have a population of around 400,000. The official languages are Maltese and English with most of the people also fluent in Italian. Positioned at the exact geographic centre of the Mediterranean Sea, Malta has always been a focal point for trade.

Foreigners continue to invade the island each year, but in these more tranquil times these tend to take the altogether more welcome form of tourists with an ever growing number of over 1.2 million.

sliema

A cosmopolitan town, a centre for shopping, cafés and restaurants, which stretches to St Julians, a centre for entertainment.

Sliema is the main coastal resort on Malta, it is also a very large residential area. This busy – and still growing – town focuses on The Strand, a broad promenade with views of Valletta 0.5km to 1km away. When night falls Sliema’s bars and restaurants are relaxed and mellow in mood with a cosmopolitan feel.
